The condition of the four lightstations in the Region included on the Commonwealth Heritage List are inferred to be in good condition. Managers infer a stable trend; however, there is a lack of published evidence.
The site of the former Pine Islet lightstation remains dilapidated. Generally, condition reporting on this component is data deficient.
The six historic shipwrecks in protected zones in the Region are well recorded. Condition is inferred due to minimal available evidence since 2019. Managers infer it to be poor based on their understanding of changing environmental factors. Data gaps continue to exist for other sites, associated artefacts and routes of voyages.
Limited progress has been made since the Outlook Report 2019 in systematically recording the majority of sites and associated artefacts.
Many elements have not been systematically identified or recorded for this historic heritage value. Since 2019, naming of 2 reefs has honoured 2 prominent people’s historical contributions to the protection of the Reef.
